US business owners with established firms
A published freight broker deal: $650K for a firm with 100 people.
Reported by Pewter's licensing partner in October 2026, the deal lists rate quotes, shipment documents, dispatch records, delivery exceptions and claims. Pewter did not advise on these deals.

Why logistics records can interest AI labs
The internet has been read by the labs. Your business operations remain unknown to them.
Public text is what AI models learned from. The web cannot show them how your staff price a quote, resolve a claim or reschedule a shipment. That expertise lives in your operating systems, shared drive and inbox. The labs are now paying to access it: Google's winning bid for Spirit Airlines' records reached $10 million, while firms much smaller have received hundreds of thousands. What leaves your premises
Clients and staff are removed from licensed material
Before delivery, identifying details are removed or swapped for consistent placeholders. The work remains; the people do not. An illustrative freight dispatch email appears below.

Every de-identification method leaves some risk. Before signing, you review the process and a de-identified sample; you may also exclude third-party, privileged or regulated records. See our records-handling approach.

- 20+ peopleFull-time employees, currently or at your peak.
Highest demand is for records that capture skilled work in sequence: accounting, logistics, engineering, construction, distribution, manufacturing, trades and professional services. Records that are privileged, regulated or third-party may be excluded. Meeting these criteria is no promise of an offer.

Owners' common first-call questions
Is this an actual payment, or just a pitch?
There is a real market. Our licensing partner reports payments of $350,000 to $650,000 to firms with 60 to 100 people. A federal court filing records Google's $10 million winning bid for Spirit Airlines' records. These transactions involved other firms, not ours. You'll receive your offer in writing before making any commitment, and offers to many firms fall below these amounts.
What would I pay?
Nothing at any point. When a deal closes, our licensing partner pays Pewter a fee. No deal means no fee.
Who are your clients, and what does everyone do?
Pewter identifies and qualifies the opportunity, assesses your records, presents the offer and coordinates the transaction. You receive payment from our licensing partner, which makes the offer and signs the license with you; before signing anything, you'll know its identity. Since the partner pays our fee, we aren't your agent or lawyer. We aren't a law firm or registered broker-dealer, and recommend that your own counsel review the agreement.
Does the data stop being mine?
No. The agreement licenses a de-identified copy that both sides have agreed on. Your ownership and original files stay unchanged.
Could my employees or clients be identified?
Before delivery, we remove or replace payment details, credentials, account numbers, contact details and names. You can exclude records that are third-party, privileged or regulated. Since all risk cannot be removed by any method, you examine the process and a sample before signing. Our approach to records.
Who can view records before my signature?
Only with your consent. We might request a small sample to assess quality before an offer; it may be reviewed by Pewter or the licensing partner. You decide what the sample includes and may decline. The full export waits until after your signature.
Who uses the data, and what is the purpose?
For model evaluation and training, Authorized AI developers may use it as your agreement defines. The terms you approve state permitted uses and exclusivity. Our free owner's guide, Before You Sell Your Data, sets out questions and terms to resolve before signing.
How much time will my team need to spend?
Expect a few hours from you, including two or three calls and a brief inventory of your systems. When an export is required, we coordinate with your IT person or provider, who runs it. Creating new data or cleaning anything up isn't necessary.
What if I don't know what data we have?
That's true for most owners. During the call, tell us which tools you've used over time, such as your operating or accounting system, shared drives or email, and we'll figure out what's there. To estimate the volume on your own first, our guide at no charge points to where the numbers are in a dozen other tools, as well as Slack, Microsoft 365 and Google.
Why move now?
Labs are purchasing today. A single AI data company has committed $1 billion for the coming twelve months. The value is in the history you still hold: archives disappear when subscriptions lapse or a firm winds down, taking that value with them.
